Urgent (same day) Appointments

In order to manage the demand for urgent (same day) appointment we operate a triage system.

Should you request a 'same day' appointment, you will initially be contacted by a doctor or nurse via the telephone.  Your request will then be managed in the most appropriate way.

The Doctors request that you give the receptionist some indication as to your need for an appointment (ie medication review, sore throat) so that you can be given the earliest appointment with the most appropriate clinician.

MEDICATION REVIEWS

Please remember that you can book your appointment for a review of your repeat prescription drugs up to four weeks in advance.

Please see the bottom of your repeat prescription slip for the date of your next review.

If you attend a chronic disease clinic ie. heart, asthma, diabetes, your medication review will be done at this appointment.

MAGAZINES

We now have a supply of monthly magazines for you to read whilst in the Surgery.

Thank you to the Patients Comfort Fund for providing this additional service.

PATIENT GROUP

Please see the link on the right hand side of the page with reference to the Whitchurch & District Patient Group

Here at Dodington Surgery we are proud to have a patient group which unites the three practices in Whitchurch.  The group is called the Whitchurch & District Patient Group and provides us with an insight to the views, thoughts and ideas of our patients.

The group held its first meeting in July 2011 but has already been very supportive by helping us to produce a patient survey on our telephone triage system for same day appointments.  We plan to run this survey again in the next few months.

The group currently meets every six to eight weeks and currently has around a dozen members.  The group would like to hear more from young families but we appreciate it is not always possible with busy lives to attend meetings.  If you would like to be more invovled but would find attending meetings difficult please contact Elaine Ashley at the practice and we will discuss how your views can be represented in a way that is convenient to you.

Should you wish to join the group please contact Elaine Ashley, Practice Manager on 01948 662033
